Updated NICE Guidelines for Initial Type 2 Diabetes Management

Updated NICE Guidelines for Initial Type 2 Diabetes Management

NICE has updated its guideline covering the care and management for adults (aged 18 and over) with type 2 diabetes. It focuses on education, dietary advice, managing cardiovascular risk, managing blood glucose levels, and identifying and managing long-term complications. The presentation below presents a summary of the new guideline. Note that NICE has provided a useful summary of medicine recommendations for initial prescribing; as well as a visual summary for choosing, reviewing and changing medicines.
